Lured by higher salary, nurses make a beeline for govt hospitals

Rethink if you think that nurses are not paid well, because the following news tell you the same and these are not private hospitals but our govt. hospitals which are luring nurses as never before. The said incident occurred or I must say a reverse brain drain case, when 30 nurses from private hospitals in Madhya Pradesh quit their so-called cushy job and applied in government-run sick and newborn care centre of Shivpuri, Burhanpur and Khandwa hospitals. “I was reading it on Internet and was really amazed to read the whole story, says Susan, an insurance executive who works with Fred Loya Insurance.

The story just not adds here the concerned hospitals continues to receive more applications and many more experienced as well as just pass out nurses have applied for the post of nurse in gov. hospitals. “It is hard to believe that how can this happens in India, adds Susan of Fred Loya Insurance.

The state increased the salaries of nurses from rupee 10,000 in 2010 to Rs 15,000 in 2011, which is way higher then what is being offered by private hospitals. “I wonder when will we get such a raise here at Fred Loya Insurance.
